PROBATE COURT

Chief District Court Judge Jessica A. Moore issued an Order implementing changes required by 2026 SB 50, which amended KRS 395.105. Effective Tuesday, September 8, 2026, uncontested petitions for the appointment of a fiduciary in decedents' estates will be reviewed off docket unless the court determines that a hearing is required. A checklist and affidavit of compliance, along with the referenced AOC forms, must be filed contemporaneously with the uncontested petition.

Pursuant to SB 50, effective July 15, 2026, the Probate Session of Jefferson District Court now requires use of the following forms in decedents’ estates:

UPDATE ON PROBATE MOTION HOUR

The Master Probate Attorney List has been created.

Starting June 2, 2026, you will get Motion Hour pre-rulings ONLY if you have agreed to be on the Master List. If you know of anyone that wants to be added, or if you would like to be removed, please email the probate case manager at natajaverne@kycourts.net. If you are not on the Master List, you can still check the pre-rulings by calling the probate clerk's office at 595-4434, or checking the list that will be posted outside the probate courtrooms (201 or 202).

Probate Court has Motion Hour on Tuesdays at 1pm for attorneys and 2pm for pro se parties. The filing deadline is the preceding Thursday at 12pm. Any motions filed after shall be scheduled for the following Motion Hour. All movants shall ensure their motions comply with the applicable notice requirements. Virtual attendance is permitted.

EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 5, 2025, ALL motions should be filed for Tuesday motion hour unless your case has a previously scheduled date/hearing.
